About the Artist
I’m interested in color, form and line and their relationship to the figure.
My influences range from Neolithic sculpture to Depression-Era figurative work to pre-code Hollywood
glamour photography. Using pastel and acrylic, my figurative work is marked by bold line quality
and vivid colors. Many pieces are large scale as I prefer to work life-size or larger.
Coming from a formal sculptural background, the dimensional relationship of shapes within a representational
form are interesting to me. Intellectually, I enjoy the challenge of playing with spatial dimension
in a two-dimensional format and the juxtaposition of more abstracted shapes within a recognizable form.
